Neyssa Shockley, born and raised in Dallas has strong ties to her community. A Panther Legacy Cub of the Dallas Chapter of the Black Panther Party established in 1969 in Dallas, Tx. Her parents were very active in the community and included her in all services they committed to. Neyssa graduated from Texas Woman’s University with Honors with a Bachelor’s in Health Studies/Community Health. She is currently a graduate student at Lamar University studying family counseling where she is expected to complete her Master’s, Summer 2021. Neyssa has over 8 years’ experience working with non-profits such as the American Heart Association and The Afiya Center. She served as a board member of The Afiya center as the Youth Advisory Leader where she helped in the development of several focus groups to learn more about how health education shapes the individuals of the community, The End with Red Annual event and the Get Tested, Grab a Plate event. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling the world! This new venture has allowed Neyssa to give back to her community and focus on what she loves: community, education, community-development, mentorship, and empowering the people.
