Who We Are

Mission Statement

The Skip Shockley Foundation is a 501(c3) non profit, charitable organization located in Dallas, Texas. Our mission is to empower communities to create, build, nurture, and sustain a strong and healthy future. We are committed to providing services to further nurture the education, economic, mental and social development needs of our community.
Honoring Skip Shockley: Author James “Skip” Shockley was a family man, author and an active member in his community. A native of South Dallas, he dedicated time to educate and protect those in his community. Skip Shockley was a Ranking File Member of the Black Panther Party Dallas/Denton Chapter. He helped organize many of the party’s programs such as the Free Breakfast Program, Sickle Cell program, and The Oakland School Program which provided resources to many families in the community. Later in life, he remained active in his community by providing services to the people in southern Dallas such as HIV testing, STD screenings, substance abuse education, business sponsorship, mentorship, and more. Skip Shockley also authored two books in his spare time called Mothers Son and Reverend Kazz’s Apple.
His hard work in the Dallas community is appreciated and we look forward to honoring his legacy by continuing his work and pushing forth his mission of empowering and serving the people. ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Our financial mentors have a combined experience of over 10 years, and they are committed to instilling entrepreneurial and financial principles built for sustainability and prosperity. We want to inspire youth to overcome barriers so they can accomplish their goals by providing a curriculum with textbook learning and practical application for students to get an overall learning experience.  This program is available for students ages 14-18.

this program was created to take care of basic human needs for survival. The shoe program will help organize the people as well as bring dignity, unity, and pride that will raise the consciousness of the people. This program is donation based as we will need the help of the community to ensure this program runs smoothly. Please donate newly used shoes and clothes so that we can help families in need. Any monetary proceeds will be used to fund the program and any materials needed to support our families.

Our goal is to break the stigma in our community about mental health. Our focus is to explore and assist families in forming solutions in hopes of gaining a better understanding of each individual of the family. We believe the process of therapy should be guided by the goal(s) of the clients, and we hope that every person who enters our facility leaves feeling empowered.

We are committed to teaching the members of our communities’ skills to help save a life. It is our mission to educate our people on basic survival skills. We hope to bring a sense of safety to our communities by providing CPR education. CPR can save a life or many lives, and we believe that it is a necessity that each member is equipped with this basic human necessity.
